Professional Experience

Misael Chacon is an associate attorney practicing out of the firm’s Miami office.  Misael concentrates his practice in the area of both first and third-party property defense litigation, with an emphasis on bad faith litigation, fraud investigation, water damage claims, and windstorm coverage issues.  Prior to joining Lydecker | Diaz, Misael clerked at various firms and organizations, gaining significant experience in complex commercial civil litigation, corporate, and in-house transactional law.

Misael was born in Camaguey, Cuba, and grew up in Miami, Florida, where he obtained his B.A. in English from Florida International University.  Throughout his undergraduate college years and after, Misael worked in the real estate industry managing and assisting investors in the acquisition and disposition of real estate.  After working in real estate for over seven years, Misael went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law, graduating Cum Laude (with honors).

While in law school, Misael was a member of the Race and Social Justice Law Review where he wrote on issues relating to homelessness, housing disparities amongst communities of color, and Florida’s Landlord-Tenant laws.  Misael also participated in the Tenants’ Rights Clinic where he clerked at Legal Services of Greater Miami successfully representing low-income and underserved families facing eviction, denial, and termination of rights under State and Federal housing laws.  Through the University of Miami School of Law, Misael also interned at a prominent sports organization, assisting the in-house legal team with drafting agreements, researching novel case law and coming up with creative solutions to complex legal questions related to the sports and entertainment fields.  In recognition for his volunteer work at the Public Defender’s Office for the Ninth Circuit in Orlando, Florida, Misael was granted the HOPE Pro Bono Challenge Award.
