Professional Experience
Michael E. Longo is an associate in the firm’s Miami office. He has significant experience in a number of legal practice areas, including general litigation, appellate practice, intellectual property, federal practice, entertainment and art law, insurance litigation, bar/tavern and restaurant liability, insurance coverage matters, bad faith and extra-contractual liability, directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, government liability, employment law, maritime and admiralty, motor vehicle negligence, personal injury protection claims, premises liability, workers’ compensation, personal injury, civil rights law, land use and zoning, and products liability.

More specifically, his practice has encompassed matters involving the Commerce Clause, the Graves Amendment, federal pre-emption of state and local laws, federal jurisdiction, the 11th Amendment, the 4th Amendment, the 1st Amendment, state sovereign immunity, 42 USC §1983, interlocutory appellate jurisdiction, the Florida Personal Injury Protection Statute, the federal “complete pre-emption” doctrine, corporate successor liability, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the right of publicity, the Lanham Act (trademarks), and the Copyright Act.

Mr. Longo brings a wealth of non-law experience to the table in his law practice. Prior to attending law school, he worked as both an art consultant at a major commercial art gallery and as a high school television production teacher. He has also worked as a web designer/webmaster, a film and video director and editor, and has provided consulting, critique and editing services for books, short stories, scripts, screenplays, films, and journal articles. In his free time, Mr. Longo is an avid cinemaphile, fine artist and baseball fan.
