Professional Experience
Gabriel Fernandez is an associate in the Firm’s Miami office. He concentrates his practice in first-party property defense litigation, with an
emphasis in bad faith litigation, fraud investigation, water damage claims, and windstorm coverage issues. Prior to joining Lydecker | Diaz as an
associate, Mr. Fernandez worked in the Firm as a law clerk while completing his legal studies. As a law clerk, Mr. Fernandez spent one summer working
in the area of complex business litigation, including business torts and real estate litigation, and one year working extensively in the property damage division.
Personal and Educational Background
Mr. Fernandez was born and raised in Miami, Florida, where he graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 2004. Mr. Fernandez then attended The University of
Chicago and received a B.A. in Public Policy with a specialization in Sociology. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Mr. Fernandez was a
member of Phi Gamma Delta (“Fiji”) and The University of Chicago football team. As a member of the football team, he was a four-year starter at
outside linebacker, three-time selection to the UAA All-Conference Team, voted Team MVP as a senior, and he became the first-ever University of Chicago football player to garner UAA All-Conference Rookie of the Year accolades as a freshman.
Mr. Fernandez earned his J.D. from the Florida International University College of Law in 2011. While in law school, he distinguished himself by
earning the Book Award for Remedies, working as a law clerk at Lydecker | Diaz for two summers and his 3L year, and volunteering as a football coach at Tamiami Park and Christopher Columbus High School.
